Leadership Circles

Leadership Circles are where the real work happens. Not the work of policy or party or procedure, but the inner work, the kind that determines what kind of leader you are becoming, and what kind of leader you want to be. The Depths is Futurelect's offering to every active Leadership Circle. It is a collection of facilitated conversation guides, organised around four themes, each one exploring a different dimension of your life as a public leader. Think of it like a map. The themes are the territories. The layers within each theme take you progressively deeper into that territory, one conversation at a time.

You choose where to begin. You choose how far to go.

Select Your Depth

Watershed:
What has shaped you

Every leader carries a before and an after. Watershed is where your circle goes to explore the experiences, decisions, and marks that made you who you are. Not as a biography, but as the raw material of your leadership.

Roots:
Who you are

You have been shaped by what has happened to you. But underneath that is something more fundamental: the ground you stand on, the values you would not trade, the patterns you lead from whether you name them or not.

Constellation: Who holds you and who you hold

No leader leads alone, even when it feels that way. Around you is a web of relationships, the people who have seen you clearly, the ones who ask the most of you, and the invisible threads of solidarity that connect you to something larger than yourself.

Source:
What you lead from

Beneath everything, there is something that keeps you going. A flame, a silence, a sense of who you most essentially are. Source is the deepest territory in The Depths. It is where your circle goes to find what sustains you, what restores you, and what it means to lead.

Inner Alignment

Leadership requires inner alignment as much as external skill, especially under pressure.

Long-Term Support

Alumni are supported as evolving public leaders, long after formal programmes end.

Continuous Growth

Leadership unfolds over years, not cohorts, and demands ongoing reflection and recalibration.

Alumni Summit 2024

Futurelect's triennial Alumni Summits offer our community a space to gather, reflect on shared learning, and reconnect across cohorts. In March 2024, Futurelect hosted its first-ever Alumni Summit in Cape Town, South Africa. The summit brought together 120 graduates from its public leadership programmes over the past five years. This event provided a platform for sharing experiences, networking, and gaining expertise in ethical political and government leadership.
