In the vibrant heart of Kenya, Soila Sankale’s story is a beacon of hope and inspiration. With over 13 years of dedicated organisational management and governance service, Soila has become a shining example of transformative leadership. Her roles on the Maasai Mara Conservancies Association Board and the Kenya Red Cross Society Regional Board highlight her unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and humanitarian aid.
Soila’s passion for women’s empowerment and her fight against outdated cultural practices reflect her deep-seated belief in progress and equality. Growing up amidst the rich traditions of the Maasai, she has used her voice to challenge norms and champion corrective action, creating pathways for women to thrive.
As a proud member of the East Africa Public Leadership Programme’s 2024 cohort, Soila continues to inspire with her blend of empathy, determination, and visionary thinking. Her journey is a testament to the power of leadership rooted in compassion and a shared vision for a brighter, more inclusive future. Soon, she hopes to play a key role in advocating for the recognition and support of parents and caregivers of children with special needs.
Soila plans to venture into politics as a Member of Parliament (County Women Representative) for Narok County. What lies ahead is groundwork, public information and education to the electorate, resource mobilisation, and alignment with the political party of her choice. Her decision to run in 2027 is currently in a consultative stage with stakeholders, and by December 2024, she aims to have finalised this first stage of planning.
