On 18 September 2024, the Western Cape Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) held a Thought Leadership seminar on Party Funding in Cape Town, South Africa. Futurelect’s Community Relations Manager, Aaron Lynch and Head of Digital, Media and Product, Shaunei Gerber, attended the seminar, which focused on the relationship between political party funding and electoral democracy, focusing on transparency, accountability, and citizens’ right to access information.
Attended by representatives from political parties, faith-based organisations, civil society organisations, youth groups, and academics, the seminar featured a panel led by Mr George Mahlangu, the IEC’s Deputy CEO responsible for Party Funding.
